radwtmp file creation under Slackware 8.0

Hello,

I Recently upgraded to Slackware 8.0
(gcc version 2.95.3 )

I built the current snapshot radiusd-cistron-1.6-snapshot-20010831
because, radiusd 1.6.4 would not build/run without errors in Slack 8.0

Everything installed fine and it is working properly with the exception
of radwtmp file creation in "/var/log/". Ive tried cat /dev/null >
radwtmp
to create it but nothing gets dumped in this file ever after restarting
radiusd.
If I delete the file and restart radiusd it never gets re-created.

Im not using any -w switch in starting radiusd.

Also I had an older snapshot binary created under slack 7.1
(cistron-1.6.5-cvs 26-Jan-2001) that I copied to this machine
and it works fine on slack 8.0, with the exception of the
radwtmp problem.

I am guilty of making some changes to the file system under the slack
8.0 install;
I put /tmp under its own partition linking /var/tmp to it with the
following
mount in fstab.

/dev/hda6 /tmp ext2 defaults,nosuid,nodev,noexec 1 2

Also I was wondering if the development team add a section to
src/Make.inc to create /var/log/radacct if this directory doesn't
already exist, setting fileperms for that dir to "0700 root.root".

Also in the current snapshot it appears that the old usrhiper bug
for checkrad has resurfaced (see Faq section 4.2.1).

Kudo's on the manpages for the current snapshot !

Thanks !!
